April 26, 2025: Earth Day in NYC

Street Works and Queens Mutual Aid will be out on the streets April 26th for Earth Day, along with hundreds of others participating in activities like DOT’s Car Free Earth Day. Come say hi at any of these spots!

1. Sunset Park (Brooklyn): Rising. Curtains. — shown at the 2024 Street Works — is getting a re-design and joining the Department of Transportation’s Car Free Earth Day events at 5th Ave, 40th–50th St in Brooklyn, 12-4pm. We’ll be community beading and adding to the installation.

2. 34th Ave Open Street (Jackson Heights): NYC’s first permanent open street — 26 blocks — is closed to cars daily for community use. Veggie Nuggets and Environmental Defense Fund will be representing all near 89th Street and 34 Avenue, 12:30–4pm.

3. Queens Botanical Garden (Flushing): Queens Mutual Aid will be tabling at the garden’s Climate Arts Festival, around 12-4pm.
