Ernest Verrett

Ernest Verrett is an artist and long-time entrepreneur, including co-founder of Dabima, MadPark, and Street Works.
At Dabima, Ernest is working to create a technology platform that helps students apply to college. Over the last 25 years, college applications have gotten increasingly complicated, expensive, and opaque.
Meanwhile, there is one public school counselor for every 400 students on average. Thousands of students across the country are left with little support, simply because they can't afford it. Dabima wants to change that.
At MadPark and Street Works, he’s committed to shifting narratives around undermined and undervalued artists and art forms, from tabletop roleplaying and music, to artists that work on the street. Through MadPark, Ernest co-creates events celebrating the music & entertainment industry. At Street Works, he co-creates street festivals dedicated to civic action. He has also supported the development of art installations in public spaces in New York City for over a decade, increasingly producing & creating artwork, and is currently developing a tabletop roleplaying game.
Ernest grew up in the entertainment industry, supporting fashion events, modeling, and acting, as part of a family business. He experienced first hand how unjust narratives shape arts and culture and harm artists.
2024 Street Work: what Anjali & Ernest did
Join MJN members, Ernest and Anjali, in the locally loved craft of community beading. As local stewards of this wearable art, we're excited to reflect with participants on the story of climate change, by co-creating a glittering bead curtain mapping global temperatures. (Photo by Cindy Trinh.)
